Alexis Cole at performs “The Music of Gigi Gryce”. The evening will feature Gryce’s most popular songs such as “Social Call” and “Music in the Air” alongside many of his lesser-known gems.
Alexis Cole has been compared to classic jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan and Anita O’Day. Cole has a dozen albums to her credit on Motéma, Chesky, Venus Records and Zoho. She has recorded with such artists as Fred Hersch, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Don Braden, been a soloist with the Boston Pops, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Cole will be accompanied by trumpeter Haneef Nelson and keyboardist John DiMartino. The evening will also feature Jazz Historian and Gigi Gryce biographer Noal Cohen to discuss Gryce’s life and career.
