Music In The Box

La Pompe Attach
Sat., May 24th
@ 7:30 PM
Led by two-time Grammy nominated guitarist Doug Munro, La Pompe Attack presents an exciting, updated interpretation of the hot swing sound of famed European jazz guitarist from the 1930s and 40s Django Reinhardt coupled with Munro’s own unique and highly entertaining style. Joined by a group of virtuosic performers including saxophonist Albert Rivera, drummer Ian Carroll, and bassist Michael Goetz, La Pompe Attack is high energy swing of the highest order.
“Putt Lake Toodleloo” (GotMusic Records 2022) allows one to imagine what it would have been like if Django Reinhardt was from a much younger generation, and if he had been open to sharing the spotlight with other talented guitar soloists,” said jazz reviewer and historian Scott Yanow.
“Guitar heaven here,” wrote Vintage Guitar Magazine.
“The real pleasure of New York guitarist Munro’s album rests in his obvious fondness for Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France. His care and craft are at a high level,” wrote Downbeat Magazine.

imeless Singer Songwriters
Sat., May 31
@ 7:30 PM
Timeless Singer Songwriters, featuring the music of Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Carly Simon and James Taylor will be performed by guitarist/ vocalist Peter Calo and vocalist Anne Carpenter. The duo will be supported by bassist Paul Adamy.
Calo has been Carly Simon’s guitar player and backing vocalist, musical director and occasional producer and song collaborator for the last 20 plus years. He has worked with such artists as Hall and Oates, Lorna Luft, Dionne Warwick, Queen Latifah, Willie Nelson, Andrea Bocelli, Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson, Leonard Bernstein, and Lesley Gore.
Carpenter has been a presence on the New York music scene for the past decade. A songwriter herself, her songs have been recorded by Sloan Wainwright and KJ Denhert. She is also familiar to local audiences as the vocalist in WCT’s Living Music Events.
Carpenter and Calo dive into the immense library of music from Carly Simon, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon, songwriting giants who created some of the most endearing and lasting music of our time.
Carly Simon said of Calo’s recent album, “Peter Calo is the musician you meet early in your career and all of a sudden you’re 70 years old and you’re lucky enough to still be playing and writing with him. This album shows his ability to merge styles and introduce new structures and harmonies with himself singing lead vocals. Always an inspiration and always quite surprising.”
