Alexis Cole

Our guest performer, Alexis Cole, called "one of the great voices of today," by Jonathan Schwartz, has been compared to classic jazz singers such as Sarah Vaughan and Anita O'Day. She's performed with the Boston Pops and New York Philharmonic on stage at venues from Avery Fisher Hall to the Kennedy Center. She records for Motéma Music, NY, Chesky Records, NY and Venus Records, Japan. Her nine recordings, which feature musical luminaries such as Fred Hersch, Eric Alexander, Matt Wilson, Harry Pickens, Don Braden and Pat LaBarbara, have received high praise in the jazz press and are spun on radio world-wide. Alexis will be appearing at WCT the Saturday following the Gala along with her trio for a full evening of her unique renditions of the American Songbook.

Susan Miller

One of our guest speakers, Susan Miller is a two-time OBIE Award winner and Guggenheim Playwriting Fellow, known for her critically acclaimed one person show, My Left Breast, which premiered in Louisville’s Humana Festival and has been performed across the U.S, Canada, and France. She also received the coveted Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for her play, A Map of Doubt And Rescue. She has been a Core Writer at The Playwrights Center in Minneapolis and her plays, which include Nasty Rumors and Final Remarks (OBIE), Average American, Flux, Confessions Of A Female Disorder, Cross Country, The Grand Design, Arts And Leisure, For Dear Life, It’s Our Town, Too, and Reading List have been done at The Public Theatre, Second Stage, Naked Angels, New York Stage & Film, The Mark Taper Forum, Theatre J, Trinity Rep, Walnut St. Theatre, The O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, Ojai Playwrights Conference, and Contemporary American Theatre Festival, among others. Miller was a Consulting Producer/Writer on Showtime’s breakout series, The L Word and ABC’s Thirtysomething. She won the first Writers Guild of America Award ever given in Original New Media for her hit Indie Web Series, Anyone But Me, which has earned over 50 million views worldwide. Her latest play, 20th Century Blues, directed by Emily Mann, will premiere Off Broadway November 12th – Jan. 28 at The Pershing Square Signature Theatre in New York. Kinny Landrum is a composer, arranger, producer and keyboardist who has worked with such unusually diverse people as Leonard Bernstein, Carly Simon, Jimmy Cliff and David Lynch. He was the synthesist on the seminal TV show “Twin Peaks”, which won a Grammy Award. He has scored a number of feature films that have played worldwide and won the Movie Music Award at the Garden State Film Festival. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for the documentary “Living The Story.”
His songs appear on albums by many diverse artists and he has written music extensively for commercials. He orchestrated the Broadway show “In My Life”. And he studied with Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano while earning his Master’s Degree in Music.
