This year round event offers established WCT Playwrights additional opportunities to have a chance to present their plays in front of an audience. Entirely unfiltered!!! All you need to do is sign up. One Friday evening per month, the performance space we have all worked hard to create is going to be made available to Playwrights for a public performance. WCT will advertise the ongoing event all year long to our broad network of supporters! Take this chance to engage the audience in the development of your play!

Who's Eligible???
All WCT playwright members who have paid their 2019 dues and were members as of 2018. Members who join in 2019 are not yet eligible.
In accordance with the mission of WCT, Play In the Box has been designed to allow additional opportunities for playwrights to further the development of never before produced plays or plays that have been significantly re-written. All plays that are included in Play In the Box, must have gone through Lab at least 1x prior to the Play In the Box performance.

Details:Availability
Sign up is on a first come-first served basis. Playwrights must allow for 3 months minimum between performance nights they sign up for (ie, if you sign up for Feb. you have to wait until May to sign up for a 2nd night). Compensation No compensation from WCT will be offered to anyone for these performances. Confirmation You will receive a confirmation email with details for your performance night. Until you have received this email, your request is not confirmed. Marketing
Upon approval of your request for a performance night, you will be required to submit a short blurb and single line summary of your play, along with your bio and headshot. Rehearsal Space To be arranged for/provided by the playwright. WCT would be pleased to offer rehearsal space if your schedule coincides with the space availability. Off/On Book? The decision to hold the performance as a reading or off book is at the discretion of the playwright but must determined in advance. Tech/Dress One evening of tech will be available. Dates vary and are posted for each of the available performance dates. See details in the below section. Tech: Technical elements are prohibitive for the purpose of these productions. They should be kept as minimal as possible. Program A generic paper program will be provided, listing details about WCT including our mission and how it is furthered by the Playwright Performance Nights. If provided in a reasonable amount of time, Desired details about your play can be included as long as they are kept to one page front and back in black & white. Performances Doors open at 7:30pm, performance begins at 8pm. Intermission It is highly recommended for a full length play to include a 10-minute intermission. However, the decision is at the discretion of the playwright but must determined in advance. Audience Tickets will not be sold in advance, suggested donation of $10 (cash/check/credit card) collected at the door. 49 seats maximum. Talk-back Keeping in line with the mission of WCT, each of these performances will include a talk-back with the audience for further development of the play. |
