The Secret Lives of Actors
by Giovanni Pucci
Directed by Nate Flower
Production Dates:
Performances - June 19-22 and June 26-29
Spacing/Tech/Dress Rehearsals - June 12-18
Rehearsals - May 12-June 11
Westchester Collaborative Theater will be producing Giovanni Pucci’s the Secret Lives of Actors (SLOA) in June 2025! Production directed by Nate Flower.
Actors must be available for rehearsals evenings and weekends during the above dates. We will do our best to work around your schedule and we will ask you to submit a calendar of availability and conflicts in advance of your potential casting.
The Creative Team of SLOA is requesting self-tapes from actors as first phase of auditioning.
Self tapes are due by Tuesday April 1st. A second phase of casting will then occur starting on April 4th where we will be calling back actors to read with each other on zoom. Casting offers will be sent starting on April 11th. We are asking for submissions for:
CELIA: A tough, seasoned actress, mid-30s, beautiful and alluring, she has been in NYC since leaving high school in her junior year to be in a play that never materialized. She is street-smart and a survivor. Yet she is also frail and exhausted from the effort of putting on a confident front from a very young age, and wearing it all these years–even though she has felt less and less confident in herself.
ISAAC: Young actor, early/mid 20s, just arrived in NYC from completing an MFA program in Acting. Full of excitement for the theater world. Is raring to go, ready to jump into every facet of being a professional actor. More than anything else, he has a deep and abiding belief that his commitment to the craft of acting will lead him to some larger truth.
DAVID: Actor, mid 30s, has been struggling to get work in NYC for 10 + years. Has always been afraid to assert himself–but his most recent experience in the theater has changed him. He is at an inflection point in his life–and is done playing it safe.
AIDEN: Son of a big talent agent, early 20’s. Has always tried to live up to his father. Starved for recognition. More than anything he wants to follow in dad’s footsteps, and be taken seriously as a legitimate power broker in the entertainment industry.
BRAD: Investment banker, mid/late 30s. Physically strong and imposing. Handsome in a square-jawed American way. Celia’s boyfriend. Desperately in love with her–and yet he doesn’t understand what she does on stage–and, precisely because he doesn’t understand it, or feel he has access to that part of Celia, he is deeply threatened by it.
STELLAN: Theater director, early/mid thirties. Well meaning and well intentioned, with considerable enthusiasm for the rituals and the history of theater–if not a whole lot of natural ability or instinct for his craft. He is afraid of conflict and prefers to smooth rough spots over with humor and evasion, as opposed to facing them head on.
AMY: Young actor, early/mid 20s. Full of excitement for all the possibility that lies before her in the NY theater world–but hand in hand with the excitement is an intrinsic dread of failure, of not measuring up–as she wrestles with a traumatic personal past.
Role Advisory - : The roles of Brad, Isaac and Celia - These roles both demand significant physical intimacy as well as embodied violence that will require choreography and comfort with those kinds of graphic performance states. Actors are advised to consider their comfort with this before auditioning for these roles.
To submit:
-Please submit a selftape for each role that you are auditioning for
-Selftapes should be filmed on your phone in landscape mode - showing you from either the waist-up or chest-up.
-Please introduce yourself and identify the character you are auditioning for at the top of your recording
-just in case you’re not used to selftaping- the lines from the other character can be read by someone else off-frame. In other words, we’ll just see you on frame.
-please upload the recording using google drive here:
