Staged Reading
DORIS, a one-woman comedy/drama written and performed by actor/playwright/director Bette Siler of Nyack, will have its first local staged reading for one night only on Saturday, November 8 at 7:30pm .
Siler explains that DORIS was originally conceived several years ago as a recurring character in a web series. She penned several vignettes featuring the quirky yet poignant character in a variety of guises with past titles including DORIS Cooks!, DORIS Goes on Tinder, and DORIS Finds God, A Heart-Shaped Thing.
A segment of the play was also given a staged reading in the WCT That’s Not All She Wrote IV production, in July 2025.
The individual pieces were reworked in 2022 to create a full-length play for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, adding a lighting man named OLAF, “the worst tech person in the history of the world,” and a hefty supply of jokes specially curated for the Scottish audience.
